2021 IMPORTANT INFO & Dates to Remember

Thank you Sam Houston family for making this little school a success on every level.

WE ARE ENGINEERED FOR SUCCESS!

A NEW MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL:

August 13, 2021
Howdy and happy Sunday, Sam Houston family and friends.
We had a great first two days of school and we are so very excited to have everyone back on campus.
We have a couple of very important reminders for you today as we begin a new week.
1. Make sure that you check our Sam Houston website and Principal's Corner for important dates and information.
2. Your child's teacher is always your first contact with questions or concerns if you are unable to find your answer on our website.
3. Please note that Sam Houston follows the MISD dress code. If your child is out of dress code we will ensure they are compliant through our nurses office to prevent the waste of instructional time. Jeans with rips, tears and/or holes are not dress code compliant.
4. All birthday celebrations should be planned through your child's teacher in advance of the date you want to celebrate.
5. All traffic information is available to you on our website.
6. Make sure your car tag is visible for pick up in the afternoons.
Finally, we want to remind everyone that lunch visitors will be allowed starting on Monday August 23.
Thank you all so much for your cooperation and support of our school.

July 20, 2021

We want to make you aware of several important pieces of information going forward to help you plan for the upcoming school year. Please note the following:

  1. All students will come to Sam Houston from one of two ways. By bus or through carpool. We will not have any WALKUP SERVICE for arrivals or dismissals. Bus riders will enter through the front door and car riders will enter through the new Kinder wing entrance in the back. All traffic flow will adhere to the following patterns:
    • Families who have students in grades K-2 will turn on Harper Dr. from Hwy 80, then turn onto Travis and proceed to the campus.
    • Families who have students in grades 3-5 will turn onto Indian Springs from Hwy. 80, then right on Travis and proceed to campus.
    • Families with children in two or more grade levels that are in both categories will use the Harper Drive route.
    • The lines will merge on Travis St. and continue with the regular dismissal route.
A traffic map link is provided on our SH website homepage.
  2. We will use Skyward, Remind101, Facebook, our call out system, email, and Principal’s Corner on our Sam Houston website to communicate with parents and guardians. If you have a blended/extended family or special circumstance in which multiple adults need to receive information about the student it is your responsibility to enter this information into Skyward and to communicate that with the classroom teacher. Your child's teacher is always your first contact with any questions or concerns.

Important Calendar Update:
Sam Houston will welcome all grade levels to Meet the Teacher on Tuesday August 10 from 2:00-6:00pm.
